What DOJ says happened

A Waltham, Massachusetts man was arrested and indicted on one count of cyberstalking, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts quoted in the source article. The press release states that a federal grand jury in Boston indicted John Anthony Proia III, 41, and that he was arrested and scheduled to appear in federal district court in Boston at 5:00 PM the day of the announcement.

The press release, as quoted, describes the victim as “a former political advisor and prominent figure in the Republican Party” who is married to a “high-level federal government employee.” It says Proia allegedly contacted the victim “over 40 times over the course of less than two months,” leaving “disturbing messages about the victim and her husband.”

Alleged messages and tactics

According to the quoted charging documents, between August 2026 and continuing through September 2026, Proia allegedly made multiple calls, sent text messages, and left voicemails from an ever-changing series of unfamiliar numbers. The materials say the answered calls and voicemails appeared to come from a male caller “employing a menacing tone and often using expletives.”

The press release says the numbers were obtained through applications that provide free phone numbers for calling and messaging via Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), which allow a user to obfuscate identity and easily generate new numbers.

Texts to the victim’s parents

The charging documents, as quoted in the press release, also allege texts were sent to phone numbers associated with the victim’s parents, including:

a. “Good morning [first name of victim’s mother]. Does it disturb you that such evil as [Federal Official] is married to the creature that slithered from your Cunt?”

b. [Photo of Victim 1]

c. “My god, how can you be proud of this filth?”

d. “Hey [first name of victim’s father], how goes it? Hope your daughter marrying a Jewish Nazi/white supremacist is working out for you and [first name of victim’s mother]. Did you raise her to be trash or did that just happen naturally?”

Who the alleged targets are

The press release excerpt quoted in the source does not name the victims. The source article asserts the victims are former Trump adviser Stephen Miller and his wife, Katie Miller. Digital Dredger has not independently confirmed those identities.
