A Milwaukee man is facing a first-degree reckless homicide charge after police say he shot and killed his own biological father during a chaotic confrontation involving his ex-girlfriend. According to court records, 28-year-old Miguel Ocasio was arrested after allegedly firing multiple shots at his father, 50-year-old Miguel Arocho, during an argument that spiraled out of control.

The Milwaukee Police Department responded to a shooting around 7:45 p.m. on November 13 and found Arocho dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Ocasio had fled, but officers later located his ex-girlfriend, who explained the tangled family ties. Arocho had previously been married to her mother, making him her stepfather, while Ocasio was her former boyfriend. Ocasio later told officers the two first met when her mother married his father.

The witness told police the situation erupted when she returned home from Walmart with a male friend. She said Ocasio confronted her, began pulling at her car door, and later pushed her in the face. Arocho came downstairs to break up the fight, which is when the argument escalated. She told police she knew her ex “carries a gun,” and tried to calm them both down.

According to the affidavit, Ocasio pulled the gun, fired two shots that struck no one, and then continued the confrontation as Arocho briefly retreated inside. When he stepped back outside, she said she “did not see anything in her stepdad’s hands” before hearing two more gunshots.

Detectives found six spent 9mm casings scattered across the scene.

Ocasio later admitted he shot his father, claiming he believed Arocho was “going to reach” for a gun and that he fired out of fear. When asked whether he saw a weapon, he admitted “he did not see anything.”

He is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
