They say that love is blind – but is it?
Other people tend to see that the phrase love is blind simply means that two people just don’t love each other based on appearances or external factors. People say that love is blind, when they see someone in the relationship is more attractive than the other partner, and for anyone to hear, it’s kind of insulting.
But Will Moss tells us that “love is not blind – it sees more and not less, but because it sees more it is willing to see less”. Meaning that when we fall in love we see that other person in a way we didn’t before. We cherish and care for that person beyond normal standards. So we are in love and see them more clearly for who they are.
Now, a couple who got trolled for their husband being ‘too ugly’ for his wife just shared about their relationship and how they met, during their early dating years, and even to this day.
A couple who has been married for more than five years revealed that the husband frequently receives cruel teasing and insults for his appearance. The worst part was when they started posting funny videos on TikTok that got a lot of attention. However, Scott from Houston, Texas, appeared to be having a good time with his “hot wife,” Divine, a woman from the Philippines.
Following an erroneous text message from Divine on Facebook in February 2017, the couple began a long-distance relationship. In November 2017, Scott made the decision to travel to the Philippines to meet Divine in person for the first time.
Later, Scott flew back and made her a proposal. Since 2021, they have been creating content about their daily life as a married couple. However, the couple frequently receives cruel comments from people who think Scott is “too ugly” or that Divine is a gold digger who wants him for his money or green card. Their long-distance relationship continued for another four years before Divine finally moved to the US to get married to him.
Speaking with Truly, Scott disclosed that he has a chronic autoimmune condition that has drastically altered his life. He said, “Before I met Divine, life was pretty boring. My life was at a total standstill.”
He has Scleroderma, the reason why his appearance “morphed” since he was 13. Hence, he’s not new to crude commentary. He shared, “Because you keep seeing the same thing over and over again. There’s just no effect anymore. We’re just two normal people… there’s always going to be someone out there that’s not going to think about it (your appearance).”
Due to his appearance, they have received a lot of unwanted questions and comments, but the couple frequently responds with snarky remarks. Despite this, they are unable to stop their love for one another, and they have amassed over 264k followers on social media. One of their most popular videos has received over 10 million views.
